explore-blog:

6 decades of the most popular names for girls in the United States, in an animated GIF. Just for kicks, pair with T. S. Eliot reading “The Naming of Cats.”
(↬ this isn’t happiness)

This is great. Can’t believe there’s such a uniformity.
It’s also really good looking at this while listening to trance music.

On Watching

You might know that I’m in a sketch group called Making Faces with Dan Curtis. His degree was actually in Fine Art. He’s doing an exhibition of his work at the end of October (28th) at Bermondsey Project Space and is currently raising money through Kickstarter to produce a publication, featuring writing from Derval Tubridy, to accompany the exhibition.

If you’d like to contribute to this, in exchange for some pretty good rewards, then please click the link in the banner at the top of this post.

How do you spell type-o?

Anyone else searched for tumbler.com and accidentally got through to an online beaker warehouse?

Subtlety with Ed Mayhew | Edinburgh Festival Fringe

I’m so glad I picked Subtlety as the title for this show. It’s a really interesting topic and seems to get in touch with really interesting people, who are already sold on the idea that you don’t have to spell everything out.

The best laughs are where you haven’t said something and they fill in the gaps. Love those.

I’ve bought Corinne Bailey Rae’s - The Sea as the soundtrack for the show. It’s a banger. The Blackest Lily is my current favourite, but it’s a great album to listen to again and again - the drummer’s really got it!

If you’re in Edinburgh before the 8th August, come and check it out - it’s free.
